real / unreal: all but grey

it is a store-bought disposable camera
that offers convenience and nothing more.
kirihara looks at it,
eyes a small corner of the yellow plastic chipped,
as if it had been violently thrown into the rubbish bin.
he wonders why it fascinates him so.
"yagyuu-senpai?"
the Gentleman looks up curtly
from his Agatha Christie short story collection
(Poirot Investigates),
sharpened gaze hidden behind reflective glasses
that are pushed up with a finger.
"what's this camera doing in the trash can?"
kirihara continues without missing a beat,
yagyuu's visual acknowledgement of his question
more than enough.
"niou-kun saw it in the locker room.
he threw it out."
that makes it even more intriguing,
a mystery to be solved
(kirihara thinks with a slight grimace that it's yagyuu's fault,
reading too much Agatha Christie)
but he leaves it at that,
shrugs
and says something about
going to thrash some freshmen in a practice game.
getting involved with anything related to niou masaharu was dangerous.
yagyuu hiroshi is a... minor exception.
yagyuu goes back to reading,
back straight
and legs tucked neatly under his chair.
niou hates those disposable cameras
because they are cheap and offer nothing but convenience
he hates it when there is no detailed process
that results in a beautiful piece of work
that seems effortlessly thrown together
he remembers that niou's favourite subject
(or at the very least, the subject he is most proficient in)
is mathematics.
and that niou is everything and nothing that people see him as.
they don't even realise
how apt it is for them to call him
The Trickster.
that offers convenience and nothing more.

Date: Monday, 26 October 2009 02:24 pm (UTC)got inspired after reading this: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3209035/1/
uh, it's just a little something about niou (and not yagyuu interestingly 8D) and how he seems frivolous and not giving a damn about anything or anyone, but actually he does, for certain things xD
like, he pours over detail (eg. the switch, and probably lends to his ability to copy/become other players. plus i've read a few fics where they portray how meticulous niou is in planning his pranks that he never gets caught or he already knows his pranks are irritations but are harmless overall so the teachers will just write it off as something gone wrong but niou knows it's his doing. something like that.)
and it finally makes sense to me that his favourite subject is maths. abit after reading the fic, more so now that i've written this piece.
haha, ya reading good stuff on ff.net feeds my brain :) oh and am honoured that 'here' is mentioned alongside ff.net :)) -bows-
