black on black on black

He first meets him through a glass screen and maybe something like four thousand miles.

Milan was quite far from New York, Alfred knew that at least.

He sees him walking down the runway (like he secretly owns it but you wouldn't know until one day he takes it away and you're left with nothing - like a hit and run, like the plundering of a pirate -), dressed in black and black and black. Black suit jacket (no shirt), black slacks, cutting off above his ankles, showing off milky skin, and black loafers.

It only makes the green of his eyes seem that much brighter. It only makes him that much more mesmerising.

Google tells him the man's name is Arthur Kirkland, he's 23, comes from somewhere within London (geography wasn't Alfred's strong suit), ho-hum, he modeled for this, that and them.

An ad post catches his eye.

Casting. New York. Fresh face. Arthur Kirkland. Work with.

Alfred nearly trips running to his mobile phone.




"I hate coffee."

He hears Arthur Kirkland speak for the first time. Alfred laughs, takes a (trembling) sip from his Starbucks take-away cup, smacks his lips a little and flicks his tongue out (nervous habit), uses one finger, the other four still holding his coffee, to point at the other.

"S'not for you."

Damnnnnnnn it, Alfred, you iiiiiidiot -

A quirk of an (obviously manicured) eyebrow. "Really now? Well, good for me then."

Alfred's glad he managed to catch the amused twinkle in green eyes before he was ushered out to the waiting hall.




Number 407.

He steps out in a simple v-necked t-shirt, black, paired with grey denims and dark brown boots. Alfred is really thankful his rather crazy French neighbour likes to use him as a model for some of his... creations from time to time. Just as he's about to step in front of the panel, the stylist hurriedly puts on a pin-striped jacket for him. He has no idea how he looks like.

But Arthur is there, sparkling, mysterious green eyes, tousled blond hair, an almost-smile on his lips, and Alfred forgets that this is totally insane.

The flash goes off.




He doesn't make the cut.

Figures, he's not dejected. He tried. Always learn from new experiences, he says. He saw Arthur.

"Hey!"

Alfred stops short at the corner.

Arthur is there, white long-sleeved v-neck, black skinny jeans and matching boots. He hadn't bothered to put on any sunglasses and was he panting a little?

Arthur straigthens, clears his throat (how cute) but his face is (deliberately) nonchalant.

"We-" ahem, "We should get tea some time."

Alfred feels strangely calm. Maybe he's just too happy.

A smile, small but bright, a star in the night sky. "I'd like that."

Arthur smiles his almost-smile too.

"Good for me then."

: Model AU /o/ finally. Not as hot as I first imagined but oh well, scene for another time~

Alfred not making the cut was... Not too unexpected for me surprisingly, but still fitting; it's always better not to have relationships with your work associates yea?
